630 CHED & QR Calgary

Thanks to Shaye Ganam for welcoming me on 630 CHED in Edmonton and QR Calgary - 107.3 FM and 770 AM to discuss the use of time allocation motions.

Time allocation motions are democratic mechanisms included in the Standing Orders of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta that MLAs may use to manage the time available to advance bills through the legislative process.

I share my thoughts on how it is important to differentiate between the legitimacy of a legislative tool (time allocation motion) and the legislation (whatever bill may be contentious and/or unpopular) and not conflate these two elements.
